We have been invited to hold another "Meet and Greet" Funds Raising Event for the Eddyville Monument, on SUNDAY, July 25th, 2010 from 9:00am until 3:00pm.
We will set up our table displays and colors at the front of the store as in past events and solicit contributions from folks entering and leaving. If you haven't been part of one of these event, they are a lot of fun and we meet some truly fantastic folks; get to present them with a bit of "Living History" and usually raise a couple of hundred dollars for our projects, so try to make it if you can.
The 49th Iowa has been asked to support the efforts of the Department of Iowa SUVCW Sesquicentennial Committee by providing whatever presence we can muster at a funds-raising event to be held in Manchester, Iowa on Friday, July 30th, 2011. It is anticipated that as many as 15,000 bicyclists and their accompanying supporters (Total; 20,000 to 25,000) will come through the town on that date, camp in Manchester on Friday night and then move on on Saturday, morning. Arrangements have been made for the Departmenat of Iowa SUVCW/SVR Units to set up displays and interact with the public at a site located on the route that the cyclists will take as they travel through. It is hoped that whatever funds that may be solicited will help to fund the further activities of the Sesquicentennial Committee's activities.
Please contact Regimental Color Sergeant Danny Krock (dekrock@iowatelecom.net) to let him know if you will be able to participate in this "Governor's Own" sanctioned event in support of the Sesquicentennial Committee.
