Teaching Patriotism & Understanding Heritage

Power-Dunlavy Camp Commander Richard Grim sent an e-mail to Brothers and Sisters of the SUVCW with a photo attached. The photo showed Brother Richard holding his grandson's hand at the Final Post of hisCamp's namesake, Albert Power.
With the photo he had a message: It is young people like your and my grandchildren that will one day hopefully champion the SUVCW and what it stands for. We all need to encourage these young people to remember their ancestry and what those ancestors gave to save this great nation as we strive to do the same.

Brother Grim's e-mail prompted Brother Mike Rowley of the Grenville Dodge Camp to e-mail a photo and message: ...You reminded us all that the SUVCW neither started with us nor will end with us. As evidence of that I thought some of you might enjoy this photo from about 1899 (of my grandfather).

Both messages are powerful reminders of who we are as an Order. It speaks about who came before us and who will follow. Their messages call us to our responsibilities and gently prod us to live our oath.

Thank you, Brothers!

Yours in Fraternity, Charity, & Loyalty,
Court Stahr
Department Commander
